McDonald’s recently announced a new initiative called the “Thank You Crew”. Inspired by the hard work of their crew members and managers across the 13,500 restaurants across the United States, the corporation will begin celebrating those workers who go above and beyond on the job.
The campaign kicked-off in Atlanta, where crew members were surprised with a visit from rapper Lil Yachty, who is a former Atlanta McDonald’s employee and understands the hard work required from team. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, McDonald’s will hold these ceremonials across many locations, with rewards ranging from parties or flower delivers to weekend getaways.
As the labor crisis continues, our restaurant consultants have stressed the value of good team members and managing morale at work. But honoring hard work shouldn’t just be about the bottom line. Create a sense of appreciation and high-energy with your team to celebrate accomplishments and to build a positive work environment.
Richard Weil, principal and owner of National Restaurant Consultants, offers some additional ideas. “Creative thinking and getting your staff and management team involved is the kickstart to staff retention. Take time to sit down and ask your employees what they like—something as simple as rewarding staff for even basic ideas or inspiring your team can produce great rewards for everyone.”
