How a predicted 2019 trend is trickling into every facet of the restaurant industry

In 2018, restaurant and industry websites and publications, critics, and professionals across the country, from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles, predicted upcoming food trends for 2019. In Delish's take, "19 Food You're Going to See Everywhere in 2019", they cited that "Veganism isn't the butt of the joke anymore." 

This time of year, it's always interesting to check-in with the industry, and see where these trends are hitting and where they've already fizzled. But with Burger King's recent announcement of their Impossible Burger, it seems this trend is hitting the mark. Vegetarian and vegan options have trickled through home cooking and fine dining and are landing on everyday fast food menus now--and not for a limited time. This trend has struck and it's holding fast.

Burger King wasn't the first (White Castle added a vegan slider to their menus last year), but Burger King is mainstream. It's everywhere and it's affordable, making this vegan option a choice for any average consumer.
